Staff Picks: Horror

Halloween is right around the corner, and if you’re like me, it’s time for a good ghost story.  Something to make the hair on your neck stand up.  Here are some of my favorites:
“The harrowing” by Alexandra Sokoloff.  Empty dorm, college kids staying over holiday break, Ouija board…. you get the picture
“The house of small shadows” by Adam Neville.  Yet another reason that taxidermy is creepy.
“The ruins” by Scott Smith.  Listen to the plant when it tells you something.
“Heart-shaped box” by Joe Hill.  He learned at the feet of the master, his father, Stephen King.  Very, very creepy ghost story.
For those of you not afraid of the thing under the bed, give one of these books a read.  But don’t be surprised if you find yourself wanting to sleep with the light on.
