Our latest addition to the Main Library isn't on a shelf - it's outside in the parking lot. The city is trying out a new style of streetlight, one that relies mainly on wind and solar power.
Above the lamp is a windmill that swivels to catch the wind. On the back of the lamp is a solar panel.
More "green" streetlights might soon appear in Grand Prairie parks, and eventually on streets.
