Wobble on down for a Pilgrim or Native American costume-making program at the Grand Prairie Memorial Library on Thursday, November 17th @ 5:00pm! We'll learn how to make costumes out of paper bags and add pilgrim hats or Native American headdresses!

Childrens' programs at the Libraries:

The next storytime at the Main Library will be Tuesday, October 25th.

The next storytime at the Warmack Branch will be on Wednesday, October 26.

"The World of World Book" uses our new World Book Encyclopedia to show kids in grades 3 & 4 how to research facts for fun or homework. Wednesday, October 19 at 5 pm. Main Library.

Drop by the Main Library for a family afternoon of spooky crafts. “Halloween Crafts” will be Sunday, October 30th, at 3pm. Open to children ages 12 and under.

Crafternoon at the Bowles Library will be at 7 pm on Monday, October 31.

Storytimes are back at the Main and Warmack Libraries!

Storytime at the Main Library is on Tuesday at 11 am. Sept. 20 & 27, Oct. 4.

Storytime at the Warmack Branch is at 10 am on Wednesday. Sept. 21 & 28, Oct. 5 & 12.
At each location, storytimes run for 4 consecutive weeks, then take a one-week break.

August is the month to start shaking your family tree! The Grand Prairie Genealogical Society will offer a free program on starting your family tree from 12:30 pm to 3;30 pm on Saturday, August 27 at the Main Library.


You'll learn the first steps and proven methods for starting your family history with immediate results a few errors. Learn:


Presenters John and Barbara Brixey Wiley, professional genealogits for 20 years, have been teaching beginners throughout the US in more than a hundred seminars in 29 states. Both past presidents of the Grand Prairie Genealogical Society, they have lectured at a dozen national conferences.

On Tuesday, October 18, current and new members of the Friends may shop from 5 pm to 7:30 pm. A family membership is $10 at the door.

Free Personal Finance Workshops





The YWCA and the Grand Prairie Main Library will present a free series of personal finance workshops, starting October 30. The programs are open to any adults wanting to learn how to:

•reduce their debt
•rebuild their credit
•set financial goals
•save and plan for the future
