The Lois Weber Film Festival is underway at the Uptown Theater! Featuring guest speakers and a wide variety of movies directed by women, the festival spotlights the Lois Weber Collection of dvds at the Main Library.






Tuesday, July 26: At 7 pm, we welcome guest speaker Stacy Cunningham, president of Women in Film Dallas. At 8 pm, we screen "A League of Their Own", by director Penny Marshall.






Wednesday, July 27: at 6 pm, see the documentary "Sisters of '77" by Cynthia Salzman-Mondell and Allen Mondell.

At 7:30, filmmaker Marla Fields speakers. At 8, we show "Shut Up & Sing," a documentary about the Dixie Chicks by Barbara Kopple and Cecelia Peck.

Tuesday, November 10: Teen Screens, 6:30 p.m. Based on the cartoon and toys from HASBRO, Duke joins the secret operative team of GI Joe and finds that their enemies are part of his past.

Wednesday, November 11: Teen After Hours, 6 - 9 p.m. Crash the library after it closes and enjoy computer time (for those with parental permission) and Wii & PS3 games! Must register in person at Bowles Library starting Monday, November 9; space is limited.

Looking for something to do next week? Are you a teen ages 13 or older as of March 8?
Come to Bowles Library (2750 Graham, Grand Prarie) and Press Play @ Your Library!

Tuesday, March 10: Smash Brothers Wii Tournament- Win a get-off-my-back-about-the-fines card, a set of awesome earbuds for your MP3 player and more! Play starts 7 p.m., registration starts Monday, March 9.
Wednesday, March 11: Teen After Hours- Crash the Bowles Library after it closes to the public and play with the Wii, PS3, or the library computers. Oh, and there's food. 6 - 9 p.m.; registration starts Monday, March 9 and space is limited to 16 teens.
Thursday, March 12: Special edition of Teen Screens, starting at 6:30 p.m. Come see the movie version of the popular book by Rachel Cohen and David Levithan. See if you can Find Fluffy in the entire Rec!
Saturday, March 14: Low Tech Gaming Afternoon, starting at 2 p.m. Think you're a real estate tycoon? Or the best dueler you know? Bring your skills to Bowles and enjoy some low-tech fun. Games that may be played include versions of monopoly, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Magic: The Gathering.
