Identity Theft: What You Need To Know Attorney Nick Cariotis will present a free program on identity theft: how to prevent it, and what to do if your identity has been stolen at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, April 12, at the Grand Prairie Main Library, 901 Conover Drive. No signup is required. Cariotis is the Chief of the Check Division/Task Force on Identity Fraud at the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office where he has worked for 14 years. He has been practicing law for 27 years and specializes in bank fraud and identity theft. This program is made possible by the Dallas Bar Association's Speakers' Bureau.

We'll discuss the basics of the computer: the parts of the computer, using the mouse and keyboard, and basic operation. Class size is limited, so make your reservations soon. Join us for a hilarious evening listening to recordings of the rich and famous whose ventures into the music biz were far from spectacular at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, at the Warmack Branch Library, 760 Bardin Road.

Authors of Hollywood Hi-fiAuthors/disc jockeys Pat Reeder and George Gimarc introduce you to the world of celebrity vanity song recordings. They are the co-authors of “Hollywood Hi-Fi,” the hilarious history of obscure celebrity recordings.

“Hollywood Hi-Fi” exposes in affectionate but laugh-out-loud style some of the woebegone musical side projects of the most famous names in showbiz history including Bette Davis, Clint Eastwood, Sylvester Stallone, Burt Reynolds, Jack Webb, Joan Rivers and many more. In their uproarious live presentation, Pat and George share the stories of how these long-buried projects were born, show priceless collector’s item LP covers and play actual clips of the stars’ astounding musical virtuosity.

An edible book festival is a celebration of food and reading, held in schools and libraries worldwide. Our edible book festival will be held at the Main Library. "Books" rendered in food will be on display. Stop by to view the exhibit and cast your vote for the People's Choice award. Interested in submitting your own culinary creation? The Missoula Childrens' Theatre of Montana will present two free workshops at the Main Library.
For children, they will present "Let's Make Up", at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, July 31. Actors will talk about the uses of makeup in performance, and demonstrate different types of makeup, including fantasy, corrective, and aging. For 1st through 12th grades.
For adults who work with children, they will present "Theatre Games" at 4:30 on Wednesday, August 1. This informative workshop is geared toward adult educators, childcare specialists and anyone who works with kids. Incorporating innovative exercises and theatre games, this hands-on, fun-filled workshop is designed as a guide to tap the creativity and spontaneity of children of all ages. Please bring a notepad, pencil, and your imagination!
These programs are made possible by the Grand Prairie Arts Council.
